Peter S. Liao, MD, PhD, FACS became the Chief of Bariatric Surgery at Greater Baltimore Medical Center, GBMC’s Comprehensive Obesity Management Program in August of 2008. Dr. Liao specializes in Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass, Laparoscopic Gastric Banding, and Sleeve Gastrectomy, as well as a number of other advanced laparoscopic procedures. As you hear him tell it, he loves his discipline for it enables him  to make a difference. He helps people with their weight struggles, tailoring plans and procedures. He likes being there for his patients: from implementing the process, throughout the follow up he is ready for any bumps emotional or physical his patients encounter, and he is there when they have reached their goal. He sees his field as special, for you don’t necessarily get as regular a type of feedback in which you see how you’ve made a positive difference in a patient’s life.
